Recently I was talking to an elderly gentleman.

In the conversation, we were talking about how things were going in life and what he is doing in life. The man replied, “Well, I am just sitting here waiting for night to come.”

He then just went on to say that is what he did most of the time. Just waiting for night to come.

There is some sadness in that statement when you think about it. It seems that there should be more to life than just sitting there and wait till night. If you don’t sleep well, you also then just find yourself also waiting till light comes.

For each of us, night comes. Each of us also have a very uncertain future from day to day. No day is guaranteed for any of us.

Yet despite the uncertainty of our world and each day, we do not just have to sit and wait for night to come.

In fact, we don’t even need to sit and wait for the day to dawn.

God has a wonderful Christian body that is made up of multiple people that have Spirit given gifts that are meant to be utilized each and every day of our lives no matter the age.

I Corinthians 12:4-7 states:

There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.

No need to sit around and wait for night to fall or day to dawn. Instead let us unite in using the gifts God has given us for the glory of God.

Soon enough we will see a dawn that heralds Jesus coming.

Yes, there will be a darkness coming for all evil. But it will be replaced with an amazing new earth where there will be no more night.

I pray that each of us doesn’t just sit around waiting, but instead works with the gifts God has given doing what He has called us to do.
