Being a new grandpa is one of the great joys of my life right now.

Visiting my new granddaughter is something that I do every chance I get. Recently while visiting I was holding her, and she started to stir a little. So, I stood up and started to sway back and forth and then started to walk around the house. She quieted back down and went back to sleep while I walked the floor.

Every once in a while, she would make the cutest little sounds in her sleep.

Soon I found myself transported back to parenting my own children when they were babies. I found myself starting to hum and then quietly sing the same songs I used to sing to them. It was a special moment for me that brought back many memories while making even more memories.

Did you know that the Bible paints a picture of God doing the very same thing for us? Zephaniah 3:17 states:

The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.

There is great assurance, comfort, and joy in thinking about a singing Savior. He rejoices over His children. He quiets us in our distress. His rejoicing causes Him to break out in a song.

Wherever you are in your walk with God, please know that God may be humming a tune over you right now, and He just wants you to stop to listen and snuggle into His amazing love. Whatever may be happening in your life right now, pause to contemplate that God can and will save you and in the process of that salvation He is celebrating with song.

This week stop and listen for the Savior’s rejoicing over you.
