Highway to Nowhere

In Baltimore, Maryland, there is a stretch of highway that was built many years ago that was never completed.
There were grand plans for the highway to connect other highways and make it easier to get around. People were displaced from their homes in order to build it, and part of the highway was, in fact, built. It was, however, poorly built with substandard materials and never completed.
Soon it earned the name Highway to Nowhere.
This year they announced plans to study the idea of actually closing the highway, fill it in and replace it with parks, bike paths, and most importantly reconnect the neighborhoods that were divided many years ago.
Isaiah speaks of a highway. It is a great highway built by God.
A highway shall be there, and a road, And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, But it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool shall not go astray.
This highway goes someplace. Some call it a fool’s highway and mock those who walk there. Yet God has built this highway Himself with His very life. Christmas was about building a highway for all people to walk. Christmas was about connection of two neighborhoods, heaven and earth. Christmas was about building a road that leads to reconnection of Christ and His people.
