Flex

Recently I saw a very cute picture.
It was of a young boy standing with his arms bare and flexing his muscles. There were barely any muscles to see, mainly skinny little arms with a slight bump where his bicep was supposed to be. He had a huge smile on his face. Right beside him was his father. His arms were also bare, and he too was flexing his muscles; but he had some real muscle. His arms were well defined and muscular. His biceps were bulging and frankly all his other muscles were bulging as well. He was someone that clearly worked out. They were a team. The boy had his very well-muscled dad on his side.
They were ready to face the world.
In Isaiah 52:10 we read,
The Lord has made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; And all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
This is a picture of God flexing His muscles. It is a picture of God on our team. It is a picture of God standing beside us with our nonexistent muscles with a big smile on His face saying, “We got this.”
This is what I believe we should reflect upon when we think about Christmas and the birth of Christ. It is God flexing His muscles and traveling through the massive universe to stand beside us to give us His robe of righteousness filled with His muscles to face down evil in our world.
Christmas is God coming to flex His holy arm.
The life of Christ was flexing His holy arm. The cross was Him flexing his holy arm. The resurrection was Him flexing His holy arm. The day-to-day walking with you is Him flexing His holy arm. The second coming will be Him flexing that holy arm.
